An oldie but a goodie and a perfect lead in to the weekend ahead.

On-top of the Psycho Tatt Parlour at the AGDA Design Fete, I’m running a half marathon bright and early on Sunday morning. Our team is taking sponsorship donations to support Bicycles for Humanity, an organisation that helps provide bikes for less advantaged folk to get them mobile.

JP is fishing for freshwater crayfish on the Murray River and Adam will most likely be hitting the surf coast.

Next week AGDA Victoria presents a night of lively discussion with John Warwicker of Tomato.

Tomato are widely recognised internationally for their distinctive output for a wide range of clients including international brands and cultural institutions as well as their self initiated projects and work for Underworld.

Through their design, process and music, Tomato/Underworld have and continue to be; a huge source of inspiration for our studio. It is for this reason that we jumped at the chance to design the promotional collateral for the event. More information on the event can be found here.

Over the past couple if months I have been fortunate to have been able to exercise the privilege of my position on the AGDA Victoria (Australian Graphic Design Association, Victoria) council to organise significant events such as this. AGDA Victoria is committed to delivering meaningful events for the benefit of AGDA members and the broader community. These events are organised by councilors who volunteer their time, and are made possible by support from industry.

I would encourage all designers to become involved in AGDA, if you have feedback, an idea for a similar event or would like your voice to be heard, you should contact the council via the AGDA site.

In a couple of weeks time we’re hosting an exhibition of the amazing work of our good friend Niels Oeltjen (aka Nails) in our studio.

All are welcome to join us on the 6th of May from 6pm to admire the mans works, inspect our pot plants, share a laugh and a cold drink or two. Spread the word.

We were aksed by Sinclair Brook to design a label for their Yering Station Xmas wine. Looking forward to popping the cork on this in the next few days!

This group has been formed to lobby against the proposed demolition of 10 Murray Street (the State Government Offices) in Hobart.  We would like to see a compromise redevelopment plan — one that incorporates this well-designed, useful building — be adopted. This might include some kind of adaption of the building or retrofitting. We do not argue that the building should necessarily be kept exactly as it is — simply that it should not be demolished.

Whilst on a shoot for an upcoming publication we’re doing at a Melbourne printer, I took my LOMO™ along to sneak s few pics in. Here’s the fruits of my labor.

Popped into a certain unhelpful bike store on Brunswick Street yesterday to get some parts. They had these bikes in there — Masi. Apparantly an Italian company originally, the bikes are now being manufactured in Taiwan. They looked the goods.

I met up with a mate the other week that happens to be a street/documentary photographer. We were having a coffee at local Collingwood cafe CIBI (great chicken foccacias) when he whipped out his Leica and snapped off a few frames. He just sent this photo through from that day and I was pretty amazed at the result. Interesting how an ordinary scene can be made to look so interesting and provoking through the eyes of a true talent.

We’ve just done a shoot for an upcoming print piece with Josh. Can’t let too much more out of the bag just now but watch this space for details over the next few weeks. In the meantime check out Josh’s work at www.joshrobenstone.com.

The 48 lecture series is an an AGDA Victoria project that provides a dynamic platform for speakers to present for  4-5 minutes to discuss their influences, processes and work.
